After experimenting the augmented violin technology with his cello at Ircam, Aurelien decided with his teacher Christophe Beau to use this system in two different ways :

first, during a normal cell class, the Sound and Gesture Lab software was used to show the silent gap between two different bwstrokes. Alternatively teacher and students cold compare their representation of the bow changing direction.

Second, the teacher and Aurelien agreed to use this technology in a free improvisation during a public audition at the conservatory.

The director, Mr. de Herrera asks the students to be able, during their normal exams, to invent a free specific musical form, in collaboration with other students or any external institution.

Methodology :

during two months, Aurelien spended several afternoons, with the assistance of a teacher and an Ircam researcher. After exploring and experimenting different gestures and setups connected to various sound processing applied to his sound, Aurelien choosed a granulator algorithm and a resonant filter, controled with three different sensors, and made a five minutes improvisation during his conservatory exam.
